Our first full day back in Paris.
We had a lot of laundry to do after being away for four days. While waiting for the laundry to finish, Erwin did a little shopping for dinner. After getting the laundry dried at the laverie, we took the bus to the Ile St. Louis. We stopped and had some Bertillon ice cream at a small shop.
Parisians will tell you that this is the best ice cream in the city. It is made locally from all fresh products and varies according to the season.
We walked along the rue St.-Louis-en-l'ile. It has many interesting shops to inspect. One is called Pylones and has hundreds of interesting products. See below.
As we were walking we came across a small church called Paroise Saint Louis en l'Ile.
We went inside and found a very well-kept church with lots of wooden panels in the chapels that were very well preserved. We also heard a short organ recital. The organ was spectacular.
It is truly amazing what you can find on small streets all over the city.
Near the church we came across an elementary school and the students were just coming out for the afternoon. There were quite a few parents waiting for their children.

We also inspected several of the food shops. One in particular was interesting. It was the local butcher.
It was time to go home so we walked across the Seine to the mainland where we caught the bus back. The streets on the island were not too cold but when we left the shelter of the island, we found it was rather windy and a bit chilly.
Dinner was in with a bowl of soup, a green salad, some cheese and bread, and melon.
